Face blemishes are a type of skin discoloration caused by pimples, sunburns, stress, etc. It is also known as hyperpigmentation, which appears in the form of uneven dark patches. Blemishes can be treated either with medicines or with some home remedies to cure your skin effectively. Skin discoloration could also be a symptom of an underlying disease that needs immediate treatment.

Facial Blemishes are worst to deal with when the pores get clogged with dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and bacteria on the top layer of the skin. Many suffer from this condition, and it gets worse when one omits night cleansing after excessive makeup.

Common Causes of Skin Blemishes

Common causes of blemishes are as follows-

1.      Hormonal Changes

Hormones play a vital role in acne and blemishes on the face.  Hormonal fluctuations during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause can worsen your skin if you don’t follow a proper skincare routine. You can also control them by eating healthy and staying fit. Many of us think that this is out of our control, but avoiding unhealthy food and regular exercise can control it. To deal with blemishes, you not only have to work on the surface layer of your skin but also focus on treating internal problems concerning digestion and stress levels.

2.      Excess Oil

Excessive oil on your skin can increase the chances of developing clogged pores. This happens mostly with oily skin types. If you use excess makeup, then switching to mineral-based makeup will control oil and give a matte-finish look. Washing your face twice with an antibacterial cleanser will remove excess oil and fight bacteria.

3.      Squeezing Pimples

We are habitual of touching our faces frequently, but this can be one of the reasons for blemishes. It can cause acne, blemishes, pimples, and many other problems. Squeezing pimples can spread bacteria leading to more acne, blemishes, and acne scarring. One should stop touching the face frequently, especially after using a phone or computer. In case you can’t help but touch your face, do so after washing your hands with an antibacterial cleanser or hand sanitizer.

4.      Excessive Dairy Consumption

Dairy products are not harmful when taken in limited amounts. Consuming dairy products daily can increase blood levels, causing blemishes. Cutting down a few heavy products from regular use can prove beneficial as your skin will start to heal and react positively to blemish-fighting solutions.

5.      Stress

Stress induces overproduction of steroids in the adrenal glands, causing blemishes to appear on the skin’s surface. One of the simplest ways to deal with stress is by setting and committing to a sleep pattern that clocks to at least 7-8 hours a day. This way, your mind, and body will be completely relaxed and radiate a healthy glow of appreciation.

6.      Comedogenic Ingredients

Using pore-clogging and chemical-based skin products can cause blemishes. Be informed about comedogenic ingredients and read labels to avoid using parabens and sulfates that can have adverse effects on your skin. Follow a proper skincare routine using organic ingredients and avoid excess makeup. A good skin regimen can result positively on your skin, making you look young and healthy, naturally.

Religiously following a good skincare routine that includes SPF, night cleansing, adequate rest, and healthy eating will fight blemishes, and as you know, prevention is better than cure. It is important to throw out products or habits that only make matters worse and be committed to what is working for your skin. So, start today and gift your skin time and tender loving care.
