Professional superficial peels utilize high concentrations like 30% salicylic acid or 30-50% glycolic acid to induce controlled epidermal protein denaturation. Exposing this freshly peeled skin to intense summer UV rays and heavy sweating increases the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), which already has a 3-8% incidence rate in Indian skin tones (Fitzpatrick III-VI).

A daily 2% BHA serum works via high lipophilicity, penetrating excess sebum to dissolve keratin plugs at a safe pH of 3.0-3.5. In contrast, professional peels cost ₹2,000-6,500 per session and require strict downtime.
